Discover the Baroque Cello
Join us on an enchanting journey into the world of the baroque cello with Judith-Maria Blomsterberg,
experienced teacher and musician. Many cellists are drawn to the baroque cello after first having
studied the modern instrument, fascinated by its unique sound and rich
repertoire.
On the first day of the festival, Judith-Maria will share insights about
the history of the cello and explore the fascinating differences between modern and
baroque cellos – from their distinctive sound to the techniques required to play them.
During this session, participants will also have the opportunity to try out different baroque cellos and
strings and experience this beautiful and historically significant instrument. Everyone is
Welcome, whether you are a curious beginner or an experienced musician!
After dinner, the students are invited to the 8 celli! concert at Skanör church, where
get the chance to hear, first, Judith-Maria perform with lutenist Fredrik Bock, and
then the entire teaching staff in the other exciting pieces on the program, including
other Paganini, John Williams, Sollima, and Mahler.
During the second day of the festival, advanced students will be able to participate in
master classes with Judith-Maria, focusing on complete baroque pieces.
In the afternoons, participants will be invited to play with the cello orchestra,
rehearse and perform together for two exciting student concerts. Advanced
students also have the opportunity to collaborate with a baroque ensemble during the
first part of the concerts, where they can showcase their skills in this unique style,
before participating with the entire cello orchestra in a grand finale.
