We are delighted to invite you to two inspiring lectures at this year’s Cello Festival Skåne, featuring insights from a unique perspective—Olle Davidsson, principal double bassist of the Copenhagen Philharmonic Orchestra.

The techniques developed within one of modern civilization’s most sophisticated systems are both advanced and fundamental—and you don’t need to be a musician to benefit from them. They can enhance communication and, ultimately, relationships in a variety of settings. Choose one or two, try them for a month, take notes, and be amazed by their effectiveness.

Unwritten Rules, Etiquette, and How to Be a Valued Colleague in an Orchestra

Winning an audition is just the beginning. In this insightful lecture, Olle Davidsson will share the unwritten rules of orchestral life, discuss how to navigate professional etiquette, and reveal what it takes to be not just a good musician, but also a well-liked and respected colleague in an orchestra.

Lecture 2: "Practice Techniques for Those Who Weren’t Born with a Cello in Hand"

Even though this is a Cello Festival, we believe that cellists can gain valuable insights from a double bassist. The larger size of the bass makes technical mastery even more challenging, and we cellists can truly benefit from the efficient techniques and strategies that bassists have at their fingertips!

Smart, Effective, and Sustainable Ways to Improve

Good technique isn’t just about talent—it’s about effective practice. As a double bassist, Olle Davidsson has developed a deep understanding of overcoming technical challenges on a large instrument. This lecture focuses on strategies to maximize practice time, build technical ease, and develop musical confidence—valuable tips for us cellists!
