Richard Krug

solo cellist, Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra

After the student years in his hometown, Berlin, Richard Krug became a member of the internationally prize-winning Minguet Quartet in Germany. In 1998 he took up his position as first solo cellist in the Copenhagen Phil, and quickly established himself as a sought-after chamber musician and soloist. In 2004 he founded the Copenhagen String Quartet. The ensemble has toured most of Europe and the USA and recorded a number of CDs. For several years, Richard Krug has been associated with the Royal Danish Music Conservatory as a teacher. He established the string trio T3iO Phil in 2017, together with two colleagues from Copenhagen Phil. In 2018, Richard was employed in the DR Symphony Orchestra, since 2023 as a solo cellist.
