Nicklas Holmberg

Nicklas Holmberg started playing drums at the age of ten and from the age of 13 he played in a dance orchestra. He was educated at the Malmö High School of Music under Peter Fältskog and the Malmö Academy of Music under Lennart Gruvstedt. He graduated from the music department in 1990. The following year he was hired as a solo drummer in the Malmö Opera Orchestra. In 1997 he was hired as a teacher of timpani at the Malmö Academy of Music.

Nicklas Holmberg has played with most Swedish symphony orchestras, from Umeå in the north to Malmö in the south. He has also worked in the Royal Swedish Orchestra, the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Copenhagen Phil and the Huaröd Chamber Orchestra. He has also participated in a large number of temporary ensembles, including the Malmö Percussion Ensemble. Nicklas Holmberg is involved as a drummer, percussionist and tambourine player in various genres.
