Judith-Maria Blomsterberg

Judith-Maria Blomsterberg started playing the cello at the age of seven. Chamber music has always been a big part of her upbringing, along with orchestral playing. In Lübeck she took a bachelor's degree in modern cello and during that time played for four years at the Hamburger Staatsoper. Baroque music has had a great influence on her during her years in Lübeck, and she decided to follow that path. Jaap ter Linden in Holland was her teacher at the Koninklijke Conservatorium in The Hague, where she completed both a bachelor's and a master's degree.

Judith-Maria Blomsterberg has played as first cellist in many different ensembles, including New Dutch Academy, Holland Baroque, Elbipolis, Les Musiciens du Louvre, Ensemble Aurora and others. Since 2016 she has lived in southern Sweden and is first cellist in the Danish Concerto Copenhagen and the Norwegian Barokksolistene. Travel to America, China and all of Europe is part of her everyday life, which gives her exciting meetings with interesting musicians such as Jon Balke and Jordi Savall. For a few years now she has been playing in the Bellevue String Quartet, based in Malmö. When she is not traveling around with her baroque cello, tennis and sailing are some of her other passions.
